Beauty Bar!

Hello Friends!

My journey to loving my skin was on a long and arduous road. At a very young age I was diagnosed with eczema. A good majority of my life was spent visiting dermatologist who didn't have a cure for such an ailment. The best they could do was offer medications as a form of putting a band-aid on the situation. Finally, in my 30s I began seeing a doctor who was interested in healing me internally. After many tests, it was discovered I was allergic to many of the items I came in contact with on a daily basis, such as laundry detergent, bath soaps, bubble bath, shampoo, etc. In addition, she spoke with me about eating whole and using vitamin supplements to help replenish where I lacked. With her help, we were able to get my lifestyle choices in harmony with my skin.

Now, a woman in my 50s, I can honestly say I love the skin I'm in. I still have the occasional breakout, but not nearly as often or as irritating as it was in my earlier years. I have done away with household and skincare products that caused me harm. I now subscribe to using products that are free from dyes, harsh chemicals, detergents, and synthetic fragrances.

I've created the Beauty Bar to keep you informed about the products I'm currently using. As you scroll through the list, you'll notice some products have a 💗 next to the name. This heart represents products that are more decadent and higher in cost. I don't use them everyday - only on occasion as a special treat to myself.

Cleanse and Exfoliate: CeraVe Unscented Foaming Cleanser: Available at Target - I was first introduced to CerVe by my dermatologist when she gave me samples to try. The cleanser manages to gently clean my skin without over stripping. This formula removes surface impurities, makeup, excess oil and dead skin cells without stripping vital lipids. It also moisturizes my skin. It's non-irritating and non-comedogenic. I use both morning and night.

Exfoliation: I gently exfoliate my face with 1-part CeraVe and 1-part sugar to create a scrub. I'll wet my fingers and then massage the two into my face until the sugar dissolves.

💗Teddie Organic Rose Water Tonic (available on Amazon) - I recently fell in love with this tonic after reading about the benefits of organic rose water. After cleansing my face, I close my eyes and treat my face to the tonic. After I allow the tonic to soak into my skin, I then follow with my favorite face oil. The tonic is 100% pure and organic rose flower water. There are no Chemicals, no Preservatives and definitely no Artificial Fragrances in our Rose Water. Just the pure scent of Organic roses dispensed through a convenient, easy to use spray cap. Provides instant hydration for your face and neck whilst rejuvenating tired skin, helping to create a more vibrant and youthful complexion. Lightweight and versatile toner that will restore your skin's pH balance and absorb excess oils (without causing dryness).

Moisture: Brown & Coconut Face Oil - Brown & Coconut was created by two sisters who suffered from acne in their 20s. Now they craft natural skin care with only one thing in mind - Us. Unique ingredients that work with the skin to heal, balance, and nourish. All of their skin care is 100% plant-based and non-GMO, and the ingredients are organically sourced whenever possible. This lightweight face oil nourishes and hydrates the skin while delivering powerful antioxidants and vitamins to repair and protect. Made with organic argan and rosehip oil, this fast absorbing oil balances oily skin while promoting a healthy glow. I think I'm addicted to this face oil. It leaves my skin radiant and supple. The scent reminds me of an luxurious spa...clean and therapeutic.

Teddie Organics Rosehip Oil (available on Amazon) - Like the Teddie Organics Rose Water, I recently discovered and fell in love with the oil after reading about the benefits. This beautiful amber colored natural moisturizing oil claims to soothe dry skin, minimize the appearance of fine lines, slow down the aging process. Your bottle contains only one ingredient - pure organic Rosehip Oil.

Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes - Simple® wipes, like all Simple® products, have no dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh irritants that can upset skin and contain skin-loving ingredients and added vitamins for natural, healthy-looking skin. Simple wipes refresh and nourish your skin plus remove waterproof mascara. They are perfect for traveling or for your gym bag when you need a quick cleanse - they work in just one step, no rinsing required.

Dry Brushing: For the past five years I've engaged in the practice of dry brushing, and my skin looks and feels amazing. Dry brushing is more than a way to exfoliate, it is also great for the lymphatic system and for detoxing. For more on the benefits, watch my YouTube video on the benefits. Target carries a great brush called the Bathery Dry Brush

Herban Shea Intense Moisture - Herban, Inc. was inspired by stories that creator and designer, Dana Sue Miller, heard from her Mother about her Grandmother's famous handmade soaps. The formulations are based on her Grandmother's philosophy of using natural, body-nurturing botanical components which possess healing properties and promote a feeling of rejuvenation for all skin types. I have several of the scents: lavender, orange-vanilla and rose geranium. The tins are compact and are easy to take where ever I may go. It's my little slice of happiness throughout the day.

JĀSÖN® Smoothing Coconut Oil USDA Organic: Available on Amazon - My everyday, all-over body moisturizing treatment. A group of independent thinkers drew upon the pioneering spirit that was so much a part of their California heritage and set out on a road of rediscovery. Theirs was a path back to simple, wholesome ingredients proven safer and proven to work together in naturally effective ways. The virgin, organic Coconut Oil is a perfect, all-purpose moisturizer. Rich in nourishing Vitamin E and antioxidants that melts-at-first-touch. I also use the oil to moisturize my hair, lips, and cuticles.

Cleanse:  Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar is hypoallergenic, unscented formula is gentle on sensitive skin. #1 Dermatologist and Pediatrician Recommended. With ¼ moisturizing cream and mild cleansers, Dove helps your skin maintain its natural moisture. Leaves skin softer, smoother and more radiant-looking vs. ordinary soap. Dove is recommended by my dermatologist and I've been using it for decades. Or, when I want a special treat I'll use...

Lou & Grey PLANT Apothecary Calm Down Organic Bar Soap - I recently purchased these deliciously scented body bars and I'm in love. Rather than a sudsy lather, it is smooth and creamy. The scent permeates your shower and leaves you feeling extra special. The soaps are made by hand with 100% natural ingredients. My favorite scents are Calm Down and Get Happy.

Scentsational Soaps Oatmeal Soap: Scentsational Soaps Founder, Toushonta Hogan's mission is to see nature as a means to beauty while promoting self-awareness through the use of natural products. 💗Herban Inc. Plant Bar - Conditioning, and healing herbal cleanser that lasts 3 weeks or more with ph balance, and delicate scent that last on the skin. When I want a special treat I'll use one of my Plant Bars scented with essential oils.

Cleanse: Giovanni Cosmetics Eco Chic Haircare (Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo). Available at Target - Before switching to Giovanni, my hands use to react to the harsh ingredients found in many other products. The shampoo is gentle on my hands, and of course, my hair. The product is calming and and nice to my naturally curly hair.

Condition: EDEN Bodyworks Jojoba Monoi All Natural Deep Conditioner: Available at Target -  I use this deep conditioner on a weekly basis to combat dryness and reduce shedding and breakage. For an even deeper treatment, I apply heat by sitting under a hooded dryer. My hair stays soft, shiny, and it keeps my curls well defined.

Leave In: EDEN Bodyworks All Natural Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner: Available at Target - I moisturize my hair daily with this conditioner. It softens my hair and improve manageability. Leaves hair soft and shiny.
