Fashion Personality: The Bohemian (part 2 of 6)

Welcome to part two of a six part series called Fashion Personality. The purpose of this series is to introduce you to the 6 basic personalities I discuss with my clients, and to give the understanding of how knowing yourself is the open gateway into having true style. For this week's style story, I introduce you to the Bohemian personality. But first, allow me to reiterate the meaning and scope of the term - Fashion Personality:
What is Fashion Personality? In laymen terms, it means to dress in a way that expresses who you are. However simple the definition may be, the idea of dressing to express who you are requires just that...knowing who you are. In this hyper-voyeuristic world we currently live in, it becomes easy to adopt from others without considering our own depth of layers - layers that shouldn't be concealed, rather, when carefully unearthed, will reveal a beautiful tapestry about the person.
I have long identified my own fashion personality as Classic with a touch of Boho and a bit of Quirk. If I dress contrary to this recipe, I feel less than myself. So as you'll see, my idea of Bohemian is mixed with elements that keep me true to myself. Some may wonder how two opposing personalities, like Classic and Bohemian, can conjoin into a harmonious style union. Let me explain: the Classic side of Glenda appreciates traditions, timeless elements, and quality over quantity. On the other side, a portion of Glenda lives a life in wonder, and swims deeply within the tides of artful endeavors. Like a mentioned in Classic...with a Twist, it is perfectly normal to have multiple personalities😄

This photo shoot took place in a local art district - the type of place where wonder is at its peek. I'm surrounded by art, vintage shops, music, and culinary delights. Enjoy the pics!

Today's outfit is a mixture of pieces I've picked up along the way: Touches of classic (white denim and denim jacket); and splashes of quirk (bag and necklace); along with the location, and my vibe, creates a style story that expresses a life led free.

Necklace is a unique piece that comes from Dolce Blossom Boutique (formally Sundappled Boutique)

A quick look inside the Bohemian personality:
  • Lifestyle is typically based within the arts community
  • Enjoys having the freedom to explore
  • Authentic Expression is the mantra
  • Has a wardrobe built on the unique and one-of-a-kind. Think jewelry created by an artisan. Isn't bound by traditions and rarely will you see them assimilate. Isn't necessarily attracted to fancy designer labels
  • There's no formula for dressing - Do what feels authentic
  • Leans toward retailers like vintage, flea markets, artisan boutiques, Anthropologie
  • Free-spirited is the buzz word

"I am living my best and most authentic life. It is a life I've curated through trial and error - by practicing what feels good and eliminating what doesn't." - Myisha
