The High Spirited Floral

The floral of today is quite a departure from the prints our mothers use to wear. Gone are the ditsy daisies from the ghost of Laura Ashley's past. Enter the high spirited floral - adventurous botanical motifs paired with high-octane saturation of color. Prints that pack such a powerful punch, they make you feel authoritative and bold, rather than demure and saintly.

Such is the case with the custom creation (measured to my exact proportions) I'm wearing in today's style story. Make no mistake, this floral, while lovely, is definitely not for the wall flower. It teeters between playful and rebel, and I rather enjoy the space between the two. I chose to anchor the look with classic black knee-high boots, and other accessories that don't dominate, but punctuate the story perfectly. I hope you enjoy the pictures, and I'll meet your below in the comment section.

Courtesy of eShakti - My floral print crepe shift dress is styled with a high banded collar and long ties that form an elegant bow, while an asymmetric side vent, at the layered hem, adds more ease to the relaxed silhouette. This dress, as well as all the other eShakti garments are custom made to order with your exact specifications and measurements. And yes, I requested pockets for my dress!

Sartorial Savvy:
When invited to select a garment from eShakti, my first thought was to choose a dress in my most expected silhouette - the popular fit and flare. However, on this occasion, I wanted to try something that moved away from my physique, and had a bit of drama. With this dress, I was immediately attracted to the shift shape, followed by the print, and the details. When submitting my proportions, I decided to have the length hit mid-calf, which is a length that works well with boots. I also knew I wanted this dress to take me to fashion events.

When breaking from your traditional buying pattern, to avoid having buyers remorse, it's a good practice to know how and where you wish to wear a particular garment. At fashion events I can get away with wearing garments that speak louder than most.

  2. I absolutely adore this fabric. What a lovely colour and print. I would have chosen this too. This dress is going to give you browny points at fashion exhibitions. I was thinking that it would have been great if the dress was lined with the blue from the print. What do you think?

    1. Hi Greetje! The blue certainly is a pretty shade. As far as the blue as a lining. Honestly, I'm not sure. It could be pretty, and an added surprise...like inside the original Kate Spade handbags. Or, it could distract. You can probably ask eshakti to add in the custom lining.
