A Sheer Delight

For this style story, the outfit I'm wearing is three trends all rolled up into one complete look. Not easy to accomplish, considering when attempts at combining multiple trends can often lead to disastrous results. What are the trends in this post?
  1. Dress over pants
  2. Round handbag
  3. Sheer Overlay
During New York Fashion Week for spring 2018, many of the designers showed sheer overlays, and dress over pants. Unbeknownst to the upcoming trend, in the early summer, I purchased from Zara, a mesh, floral, sheer overlay dress with the intentions of layering it with jeans or shorts. Did I have some sort of inkling that this was going to be a hot runway item? No, I did not. I purchased the garment because I considered it to be a fun addition for my closet. I knew the burst of terra-cotta hued flowers, along with subtleties of green and blue would work effortlessly into my existing wardrobe. This dress also known as a sheer delight is the hero piece for this look. Or is it?

Also seen is an enchanting butterfly embossed, uber popular circular bag (wristlet) in terra-cotta - the perfect accompaniment for my floral sheer delight...flowers and a butterfly. You decide, which is the star or hero in this look - the sheer dress or the wristlet?

The silver bracelets are one-of-a-kind beauties I found at vintage stores.

With every style story there is a lesson. For today's lesson, we managed to de-bunk the theory that wearing too many trends at once is a no-no. It still can be a no-no, however, choosing to not have pieces that compete, rather, they gently enhance one another, is the secret to your success.

  1. Another Fabulous outfit on you my Dear. I do love the sheer dress over pants look and tried it before, but was not pleased. Thanks for the inspiration always.

  2. Cuuuuuute! I love the patterns and the colors -- perfect for warmer Autumn days. I'm definitely a dress over jeans fan. I've worn this look since growing up in Italy. My mom (a preacher) wasn't a big fan of us wearing pants, but sometimes it was so cold that I had to improvise. While I didn't wear jeans to church, I did layer with leggings.

    1. Thanks Darnell! It definitely has the bono vibe you hold. I completely understand about the pants. My maternal grandfather, also a reverend, didn't believe women should wear britches. When visited him in Arkansas, the dress over pants was also popular in my family.

  3. Fabulous! You look stunning in this dress. I wasn't sure this trend of dress over jeans would continue, but I'm happy to see it has "legs".
I have a long white linen top from La Fée Maraboutté that is cut to the waist on the sides, with the front part being a bit narrower than the back, midi length and I wear it over jeans... with a straw hat, of course. It makes me feel like a million bucks!!!
Enjoying your blog and the way you presented the trends, you made it so easy to understand. Thank uou!

  5. Pretty and feminine. The round bag is super! Thank you for linking to other round bags. I love the DVF one but it has a painful price tag, so I shall dream and keep looking. Hope you are doing well, my friend!

  6. I love the sheer dress worn over the denim. It is lovely on you! The round bag is also very special, I love the tooling. Very good fashion instincts of course, dear Glenda and worn with great confidence and pizazz!
