In the Meantime...Let's Go to Cuba

Le Hubs and I at the Arturo Sandoval Foundation Fundraiser - Havana Night 2015

Hello Friends,

My schedule is quite busy this week, therefore, I won't be able to produce another style story until Wednesday, May 11th. In the meantime, I recently watched, on Youtube, the runway collection for Chanel cruise collection 2017. This is the master, Karl Lagerfeld, at his very best, and is the reason we love fashion. The show takes place in Havana, Cuba and is probably one of the most visually stimulating shows I've seen in a long time. Lagerfeld, and the creative team for Chanel, managed to capture the true essence of Cuba, while taking us to another era in time. Before you begin the show, make yourself a cup a java, sit back and enjoy - Chanel Cruise Collection 2017.

Wasn't the show beautiful!? An eclectic mix of sumptuous fabrications that come together to form a masterful collection, while still managing to keep the iconic Chanel look alive. Yes, so many pieces I can see myself wearing! How about you {wink}

If you're still craving more of Cuba, here is a post I did back in 2014 called Cuban Soul. Enjoy!

  1. How wonderful! I am very glad that you got to attend and share what you saw. I recently watched Buena Vista Social Club, and it was great to vicariously hang out with Cuban musicians. Now it's great to vicariously hang out with Cuban fashionistas.

    1. Oh gosh Karen, I was only there in spirit. If I were actually in attendance, I would have literally died. That would have been it for me...fashion heaven.

  2. This is how I enjoyed part of my lunch hour today! What amazing fashions, and you're right, they maintain the Chanel integrity! Out of all these amazing looks, the one that I'd wear right this minute and have all kinds of places to do so is the pink blazer and white slacks. That one really stood out to me (but I love pink : )!) I noticed lots of flats in the footwear, but maybe some of that was due to the distance they covered to get to the runway! One day I'll have to learn to make friends with flats... Great fun to see! Thanks for sharing!

    1. I know exactly which look you're referring too. Yes, the pink was stunning...the way it was style. Typically I don't wear baby pink, but now I have to reconsider. Yes, Karen, like I mentioned before, there are really CUTE flats available now. Ones that don't look old and frumpy.

    1. I'm sure the shoes are also Chanel. I loved the black and white brogue. As a matter of fact, I have a pair.

    1. This collection woke me up! I had become a little bored with some of the past collections. But this one, Cherie...WOW! But then again, I love the fashions from the Latin cultures.

  9. I'd been waiting until I had some time to really sit down and watch this show. Oh my goodness!! My heart was actually beating faster. That Karl!! He is such a genius. I saw so many things that I would wear in a minute and since you were on my mind I actually saw some full on Glenda looks! (Yes. Baby Pink! I think you would look smashing!) Thank you so much for sharing.

    1. Connie, others have said they see me rocking the baby pink. That's so strange, I rarely wear the color. But yes, the show was outstanding, and I saw so many things I would love to wear!

  10. There were quite a few pieces I would love to have in my closet.... Beautiful stuff. It surprised me that all the shoewear was flat. Not your usual stuff. Some of the shoes, like the two toned brogues were my taste, but most of them were in my corner of "hate flat shoes" haha. Just me.
