Island Fever + A Surprise!

Let me begin by wishing fathers a very happy and joyous Father's Day!

Now, on to fashion and lifestyle...
I have a little game I play when I go shopping. Whenever I see something I love, I always ask myself..."OK, where am I wearing this?" When I can visualize myself wearing the garment for a specific occasion - it's a winner. As an example, the look for today immediately carried me away to the sound of steel drums, crystal blue skies and the turquoise waters of an island paradise. I think I have a case of Island Fever.

Unfortunately, a vacation to the Islands is but a mere fantasy right now, as financial priorities take center stage. Since I can't partake in an extravagant trip this summer, I'm fortunate enough to live in a state which boast it's own tropical lure...840 miles of uninterrupted coastline; loads of palm trees that kiss the sky; endless opportunities to drive the highway with the sunroof open...need I say more. I'm not bragging, just appreciating what I have. Regardless, if I'm in Jamaica, the Bahamas or good ol' California, this perfect little dress conjures up images of me strolling near rhythmic crashing waves while sipping a lush tropical drink. Enjoy the look!

Outfit Details - Coastal Swing Dress: Loft (check out these bohemian tasseled dresses from eShakti; Aviator Sunglasses: Loft; Tie-Up Sandals by Bernardo (Many options on Shopstyle. Check out the K. Jacques); Various silver bangles purchased from Mexico and TJ Maxx. Watch is Citizen Crystal Silhouette. Scarf is vintage. Large Silver Hoop Earrings from Icing.

Basking in the warm, 100 degree sun.

Bohemian spirited accessories add to the vacation vibe print in this lightweight dress.

Though I may not be able to travel afar, I can still hop in my car and drive 30 miles to the west where I can taste the salty sea, bask in the warm sun, walk along the shoreline and wiggle my toes in the sand. Oh wait, I think I hear steel drums {wink}

Hey, before I close this post, have you checked out the latest fashions from eShakti? If you haven't please be sure to give them a visit. I'm most positive you'll enjoy the new additions to their fashion repertoire...delicious Bohemian styles that will make you swoon; Contemporary garments that are sure to add a bit of flare to your wardrobe (I'm in love with their denim chambray top stitched skirt); and the Retro Modern department which gives a nod to fashions of decades past. I'm headed there now to do some shopping. For a limited time, my So What to Twenty readers can have a $35 gift coupon. Just use the code below at check out. Happy Shopping!

  3. Well, who needs to hop on a plane when you have all that where you are?! One of my favorite places in California is Encinitas. There's a great little rental house called the Hemingway Hideaway. It's amazing!

    1. My memories of Encinitas are the lovely inns. I love quaint little inns so much better than the big resorts. The rental house must be perfection.

    1. Aw, thank you, Cherie. After seeing the Michael Kors spring 2015 collections, I immediately popped over to eBay and found these very similar pair. I adore them too.

  5. Such a happy dress. Lovely with all the silver jewellery. Living in California is very near to an island vacation. And I am sure you can get a tropical drink there too.

    1. Yes, Greetje, Happy is such a perfect description for the dress. Wearing it sure makes me feel even more so. One of my favorite places in California is San Diego. There's a little spot where I enjoy strolling and having a lush drink ;)

  7. Love the dress Glenda! I love wearing dresses on steamy days instead of separate bottoms and tops. To have the ocean only 30 miles away sounds like paradise to me! I'm a beach person through and through. I always notice the bright blue sky in your photos (and wonder what I'm doing in Ohio!!)

    1. Thank you, Karen. Like you, I would rather throw on a simple dress than having to fuss with separates. It makes life so much easier. I live in a perfect location to enjoy all of California's terrains. The ocean to the west; the desert to the west and the mountains to the north; Mexico to the south. I'm not complaining. I prefer to take photographs on sunny days. That way the sun will highlight the clothing naturally. Have a wonderful week!

  10. That is an essential question before buying some new clothes!! That can prevent to pile up a lot of items into the closet ( which you are going to seldom wear )...
    Your dress and accessories are very summery... I can imagine you walking along the shoreline!!
