Fruits and Flowers

We all harbor special thoughts about summer...the longer days; relishing in the warm sun; endless hours in the swimming pool. For myself, yes I adore all of these things, however, one of my most cherished aspects of summer-time are the things nature has given to us to enjoy...the wide assortment of succulent fruits and gorgeous flowers. I so enjoy biting into a sweet, juicy nectarine or mango, or bringing nature indoors by cutting a magnificent spray of flowers from my garden. Outside my office window, I take-in the sweet smell of my lavender plant. I watch as the honeybees dart to-and-from the blooms as they try to satisfy their insatiable appetite for its delicious nectar. In celebration of nature's summer-time gift to us, I dedicate this fashion post - Fruits and Flowers. Enjoy!

  1. This outfit is a real winner Glenda! Everything about it just says polished, classy and fun. If these pieces were in my closet I'd feel like a million every time I put them on! You look great! I am definitely a summer person. I revel in every minute, since our season is not long. When others are griping about the heat, I'm thinking 'bring it on!' My favorite part of summer is waking up early on a gorgeous summer day (weekend, when I don't have to race off to work), taking coffee out onto the patio with a book and just listening to the sounds of nature before the lawn mowers start to fire up and voices intrude on the quiet. There is kind of that misty look to the grass with the sun just coming up over the trees, everything looks fresh and I positively take time to smell the roses, literally! And I have to have bare feet when I indulge in this activity - it just says 'summer' and I'm right outside the door! I love how you can go outside without a jacket, I love the feel of the grass on bare feet, love the birds, the flowers, the feel of the sun on my arms...just love it all!

    1. Oh wow, Karen. You are very good with words. I could picture everything you wrote in my head. A beautiful picture, indeed. Though we rarely wake up to the mist during California's summer, I don't know what you're speaking about; however ours takes place in early spring. The sound of birds chirping...yes. I love your idea of summer.

And thank you for the lovely compliment. The top is one of my all-time favorites. Each time I wear it I feel very special.

  5. Ah Glenda, the way you describe summer makes me long for the days at my grandmother's when us kids would burn off all our excess energy. Yeah we actually went outside and enjoyed it!! I love the fresh air and being outdoors in the summer and if I had one wish it would be to go back in time and slurp on my cherry popsicle just a little while longer. Your strapless top is divine!!

    1. Thanks Suzanne! Ah yes, a hammock. I don't currently have one, but I have memories of one hanging in our backyard as a child. Almost feels like you're floating in the air.

  10. Elegant and flowery outfit. Perfect top, perfect trousers, perfect sandals. Love the apple necklace.
What I like about summer most? That I don't have to wear a coat and that it doesn't rain so much.

    1. Coming from a colder climate, I can see why going without a coat would be your favorite part of summer. Thank you for your lovely compliment. This is one of my favorite tops.

    2. Which prompts my question: do you have any coats at all? I don't seem to recall ever seeing one. Oh perhaps a black one with 3/4 sleeves?

      Delete
    3. Yes I do. The black one you referred to, and a 1950s vintage cream color with 3/4 sleeves. My other outerwear is light weight. ..jackets, sweaters and a duster. Coats aren't really necessary here so I don't pay much attention to them.

  12. What I enjoy the most? That I'm not freezing & ice cream ;-) I love wearing only one layer of clothing haha. Unfortunately, due to my allergies most fruit is off the table, but I do love seeing all the flowers and growth.

That embroidered top is beautiful :)

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I agree with you Alexandra. I love easy dressing. One layer only. Oh ice cream, how I miss thee. I can no longer have dairy ice cream since giving birth. But a good alternative has been the rice milk and almond milk brands. Oh gosh, no fruits...I would simply die.

  14. I love each piece. but I am smitten with the top, The work and colors are divine and I love that is is a bit revealing, yet tasteful.
Summer is a great time to enjoy good weather, relax and enjoy friends. In my case, I spend time near the water and that is nice after a long cold NY winter.

    1. Since losing weight, I find I have to tug at the top a bit more to keep it from revealing too much. I think a trip to the tailor is needed :)
