Optimistic + Announcement

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."
Helen Keller

I can't pinpoint the exact time my love affair with yellow began. Perhaps it developed at an age when I was too young to recall. Nonetheless, even at the age of 49, my feelings for the optimistic hue continues to envelop me...

Last November, while perusing the internet, I happened upon the dress I'm wearing in this post. It's vibrant, almost shocking saturation of color spoke to me instantly. I had to have it. However, when I went to make the purchase, my size was no longer available. What was I to do? I decided to order the dress one size smaller. I did so knowing that I had stepped up my exercise regiment, and was in the midst of transforming my body. I was optimistic I would reach the size that would get me into the dress. Sure enough, when the dress arrived, it was indeed too snug. I could barely fit my arms into the sleeves and the front pulled open across my chest. I quietly tucked the dress away, in hopes, that come spring time, it would fit.

My optimism and fervency paid-off! The morning of this photo shoot, with my toes and fingers crossed for good luck, I reached for the dress. I slipped it on over my head and just like that, the dress flowed onto my body with ease. So thankful, especially since I have far exceeded the time for returns to the store. As you'll see in the photos below, the dress brings me so much joy...the high intensity color; the water-like fluidity of the fabric; a goal that was reached. Enjoy!

Today's Look - Yellow Chiffon Grecian Dress: SheInside (sold out); Art Floral Pouch: Loft; Silver Sandals: Zara (Option at ShopBop); Sunnies: Loft; Polish is Kyoto Pearl by OPI

I feel sexy, yet demure, alive, and oh-so optimistic in my yellow dress. When I wear it, I'm reminded of the New Year and the words we chose to represent this year. The word I chose was CONTINUE. Continue is indeed an optimistic word. Its meaning...To go on with a particular action or in a particular condition; persist. Now in spring, I continue on my journey of discovering Glenda and self love. (Tweet This) This I know - if you continue to water your garden, soon, something lovely will bloom. What are you optimistic about?{wink}

Announcement

My Dear Friends,

Just before I went on my recent break, I mentioned I have been working on an important project that  needed my close attention. With today's post being about optimism, it is befitting to share with you, a passion I have held dear to my heart for many years - writing a book and becoming an author. Yes, I am writing my first book! It is both exciting and humbling at the same time. I have been fortunate to have found persons who are willing to coach me along the way. This is my journey.

Many of you joined me for a small but poignant portion of my transforming journey last summer with a series of posts that gave you a glimpse into my past struggles. Today I'm announcing, with hope and confidence (as the Keller quote states above), my first book - A Place Called Peace.

A Place Called Peace takes you to the beginning of my life journey, then leads you through the transformation period where I discovered - by letting go of the steering wheel, I finally gained control of my life. The story concludes with the present and demonstrates the importance of loving, forgiving and knowing yourself in order to arrive to A Place Called Peace.

I hope you'll take this journey with me.
Peace

  4. I will be another one who will read this book. Congratulations on stepping out in faith and having the courage to do this project. This is something I know that I need to read and I will anxiously await the finished product! It sounds like there will be much to learn from.

    You look wonderful in that dress, and I can just imagine how it felt to put it on, have it fit so beautifully and know that your hard work did pay off. I have been working hard on fitness and working with weights to tone long-languishing muscle groups (!!), and when you see your efforts pay off there is that wonderful feeling that I understand completely. I love yellow too. That started when I was little and my love affair with many shades of yellow continues today. You are an inspiration! (I'm on a different computer today but I'm the same regular reader of your blog!) Karen

    Swooning over today's look, Glenda you look beautiful. Sorry I forgot to answer some of your question, so here we go....yes it's leather on the coat. The dress has capped sleeves, and it was far too cold to take the jacket off, tho. Yes it is THE skirt. This one is of a deep teal color.
