Inspired By Mag

I'm on the other end of the non-color spectrum since my last fashion post. If you recall, I wore white in a post called White and Chocolate. It's rare for me to wear head-to-toe black. I find that I have to break it up with splashes of something. It's not that I don't like wearing black - because I do. It is, after all, sleek, sexy and mysterious. I think my difficulty of using so much black is the fact that I live in a very warm climate that usually boast clear, sunny skies. Because of this wonderful weather, I often want to feel light and airy in lighter shades of neutrals.

Recently I stopped by Fashion Fascinate and saw Mag in a post called Black is Back. There she was dressed in head-to-toe black and looking marvelous. Every bit of her clothing and accessories were indeed in this refection of light. So my latest Inspired By is Mag from Fashion Fascinate. Be sure to click the link to see her look.

Today's Look - Pants:  Moto Bi-Stretch Pants: Loft (available on eBay), Peplum Sweater: Loft (Old. Many Options HERE); Michael Kors Brena Flats (still available on eBay); Embroidered Handbag: Vintage; LOVE Necklace by Rachel Roy for Macy's (very old); Leather bracelet: Juicy Couture: Macy's; Cat-eye Sunnies purchased from the Getty Museum gift shop

As you can see, I chose to break up my black ensemble with touches of metal - silver and gold, but mostly gold. What do you think about wearing a monochromatic look? Is it your thing, or do you prefer to wear a variety of colors or shades in a single look? Do tell{wink}

  2. I think the most important is to find that inner connection which you are looking for at the particular moment, as a creative soul, - and you definitely found it, this look is wonderful on you, Glenda! I love the gold touches and the peplum top! To answer your question, yes I do like monochrome looks. In fact, I've been thinking and trying to create an all-purple outfit, just need to do it at the right point when I'm really feeling it. And it's an interesting state to be. xxx

  5. I love how you did this. Breaking up the black with accessories. The shoes are divine too. They work so well with this outfit.
    Really love this. And for myself I don't mind a monochomatic outfit either. Just my husband doesn't like it. He always says: somber. (I totally disagree).

    1. I don't wear all black often because once, when my husband and I were dating, I wore it and he said, "What's the matter with you? You look depressed." I'm glad no one has said I look sad.

  7. Hello Glenda! You look stunning wearing all black. I mean....anything looks great on you my friend! Really! I personally love the all black look especially when showcased by an LBD, black shoes and bag.... It reminds me of the beautiful Audrey Hepburn:-) I will admit I don't wear monochromatic ensemblesand often and when I do for some reason I feel like I have to add something else to break the "all same" color scheme except when the color at play is black. Like you said, black is elegant, glamorous and always exudes an attitude of mistery and self confidence that I always find super captivating. Have a blessed day! XOXO, Jeannette

    1. Hi Jeannie! You're so sweet with your comments. I wish I looked good in anything. Though inspired by Mag, I had Audrey Hepburn in mind when I pulled this look together. I like the sleek way she wore her pants with little flats. Like you, I like the idea of a monochromatic look, but I often add something else. Mag was brave...completely black.

  9. Hello Glenda. I'm so honoured I could inspire someone like you! It's so flattering to me. And what you did with your combination is just a masterpiece!
    First of all - thank you so much for stopping by and commenting on my blog, this is such a great pleasure to have you as a regular visitor. Thank you.
    I think what we show is just a total black look on two different hemispheres :) You covering the warmer part and me the colder one. Your looks much more attractive for me since I don't associate it with covering from cold.
    Thanks again. This is very encouraging for me.

  12. Glenda,
    I love this look, it is a favorite. It is not that it is monochromatic, well it is partly, but you look great in black, and your chose the pieces so well. The shoe and bag , especially. These touches make this outfit truly special . You look gorgeous and chic,
    I rarely wear all black, I think because I am missing a great black basic in my wardrobe, so i best fix that!
    Happy Sunday!
