Cali-Styled

If you can say one thing about the fashion choices of native Californians it's that we enjoy living in our jeans...
What should I wear to work? Jeans and a white button down.
What should I wear to wine tasting? Jeans and a flowing top.
What should I wear to an art talk or jazz concert? Jeans and a cool t-shirt.
What should I wear to church? Jeans and a sensible heel.
What should I wear to Los Angeles Fashion week? Jeans and some statement pieces.

Yep, we love our jeans, which is cool, because often enough, when we're invited to an event, there usually isn't a dress code; or the invite may say the dress code is California Cool. So, in these instances, we opt to make our jeans fit in for just about any type of occasion. Don't get me wrong though. We're not complete jean sluts, there are times when we select to not wear them in lieu of something much more dressy. However, here in good ol' California - there's a thin line that can push you into the over-dressed category. So, to be safe...just wear jeans and go Cali-Styled.

As I get ready to take on Los Angeles Fashion Week (LAFW), there are a few things I must take into consideration. First, and always important - the weather. The weekly forecast suggest temperatures in the high 90s, so it is extremely important that I remain cool. Second, how much walking will I have to do? Just like New York Fashion Week, LAFW may not necessarily be confined to one area, so considering my shoe height is a must. And finally, what will be the overall vibe? Well, from my previous experiences with LAFW, the vibe is fun, upbeat, trendy and always with that laid-back, California feel that we're notorious for having. In other words, we like comfort in conjunction with style. If I've gauged the atmosphere correctly, I should be right on point with my selected ensemble for at least one of the days during the week.

Well Friends, I've got a very busy week ahead of me, but I believe I'm good to go. I've got my jeans, my trusted Samsung Galaxy Note (for plenty of note taking), my husband the photographer, a pair of flats to change into, and some fun accessories to wear. What else does a girl need? Have a great week everyone and I'll see you soon{wink}

    1. Thank you Lenya. I love them too, even though they're slightly too big. I need to place a pad in them.

    1. Oh cool, another native! You are correct about accessories taking an outfit to another level. And yes, I plan on thoroughly enjoying myself this week :)

  10. Looking the part dear. Very nice ensemble. Although I would have thought that jeans are way too hot for those temperatures. And the heels are so pretty but not for walking a lot. I suppose you just change into those flats when you have to walk?
I will catch up with the other posts later. Been soooo busy at work.
Have fun with all that fashion.

    1. Since I'm dashing in and out of air conditioned buildings, the jeans work perfectly. And these heels are very comfortable, but I will stash a pair of portable flats in my bag...just in case :)

  11. You can never go wrong with a good pair of skinny jeans, Glenda! You look fabulous. Love how you combined all the items in this outfit. It's not just a Cali thing by the way. I also pretty much live in jeans.

    1. Thanks Cherie! What I love about the embroidery is that is matches perfectly on both shoes. I've seen it done cheaply and the pattern design was not lined up. It makes such a different. Amazing what you can find on eBay :)

  14. Wearing jeans is a good way to look different just changing the top part of the outfit... unfurtunately they are not comfortable for me so I seldom wear them. Jeans are perfect on you !
    P.s.
    Fantastic shoes my dear!
