Dot-to-Dot

When I was a teenager, I remember my mother saying to me, while I woofed down a cheeseburger, "You can eat like that now, but when you reach my age, you'll have to be careful." She was so right. The last time I wore the dress I'm wearing in today's post was almost a year ago to this date. I wore the dress for the blog in a post called Mellow Yellow. Its not that I haven't had the desire to wear my dot-to-dot dress. The simple fact is that I had picked up extra weight in the middle and it made the dress super uncomfortable. So, like most people when they gain weight, I tucked it away to the rear of my closet in hopes that someday I would be able to wear it again. Well, that someday has arrived!

When I picked up the weight, I was very disappointed in myself. I'm not a big eater...anymore, so I knew the extra pounds came from me becoming to relaxed on my workouts. It was up to me to up the ante. And that is exactly what I did by intertwining my home exercise with an intense boot-camp that was hosted by my city community center. Before long, the unwanted weight began to melt away and I was able to slide back into my favorite dresses. Some of them are even a bit to lose and need to be altered.

Wouldn't it be great if we could flip a switch that would regulate our weight when we become completely satisfied with it? What do you do when you find your clothing is getting a bit snug? It was important for me to lose the weight because the pieces in my wardrobe are the same size. It would be awful to not be able to wear my clothing...awful and expensive. My dot-to-dot dress was my wake-up call{wink}

  3. You must be so happy and content with losing the extra weight again. The dress is worth the effort, so nice.
    My mother used to say exactly the same thing to me and she was also right. I kept my weight nearly always the same as I HATE not being able to wear some of my wardrobe treasures because of weight. So I am very severe to myself about that. So it came as a very unpleasant surprise when my waist suddenly gained 7 extra centimeters in one year when I was about 58 years old (and after the menopause). I had never had a waist anyway, but now it was bulging out. I could not cope with that. Exercising did not help so I had it sucked away. I know, not many will opt for that, but I am very happy with it. Darned menopause.

    1. I haven't reached menopause but I've heard what is does to the female stomach. I am trying to keep exercise a mainstay in my life, in hopes that this doesn't happen. My dress is a great incentive.

  4. I LOVE this kind of dresses and have some of them. You´re right.. put it on and go! This yellow color is amazing and fits divine to your dark skin.. you look absolutely lovely in it! Well done Glenda.. loosing weight is getting harder every day as you get older. I had tried exercising but I hate it!! I like more "exercises" with a fun factor! Like badminton, inliner, trampoline, swimming, running around through the house with my cat! :)

    have a wonderful day
    here in Germany it´s raining and it´s cold today :(

  8. These great dots look so well on you! I agree, it would be difficult not to be able to wear this dress again. When I get some weight I do the same exact thing: put my favourite clothes in some safe place and try to refrain myself from eating too much. Usually it works (one pair of my white jeans still have to wait for some time though... I'm starting to believe they just shrinked ;) ).

  12. Cute dress. I'm changing my eating habits now! Everything is snug. I made the mistake of thinking that running was balancing out my bad eating habits. Not so.

  15. The problem of gaining weight affects every woman, but you have found the right way to solve it...some exercise! Me too have noticed that a little daily effort can produce great results!
    It would have been a real pity not to wear that dress anymore!! Besides, the colour suits you very well!

  16. The dress is so pretty, it is worth all those extra exercising! I mainly can put on some weight because of my love of pastries. When I see that some clothes become too tight I stop eating them, try to walk more and they fit again. And then I get relaxed again :)
