It's a simple fact...sometimes we have to create our own source of comfort. This summer has been absolutely brutal as far as temperatures are concerned. Each day, by the time I rise for my morning workout (about 6:00am), the temps are already hovering in the 80s. By the time midday rolls around, expect it to be around 100+. You would think I would be use to the heat by now, since I have lived in Southern California most of my life. Honestly, when I was much younger, I use to love our hotter than normal heat, but now that I'm more seasoned, the heat just gets on my nerves. I can take it in moderation, but day-after-day for months and months (our summers can extend into November)...that's an entirely different story.
I have been begging Mother Nature for comfort. "Please, I beg you, can we have some comfort. Perhaps a cool breeze, or maybe even some clouds to block out some of the heat?" And, to much avail, she granted my wish by covering our skies with clouds that gave us a summer rain. Albeit a hot rain, but the nonetheless, it was still slightly cooler. But now we are back to square one. As I look up into the skies, there isn't a cloud in sight. Just endless blue. So now I must create my own source of comfort, by way of fashion...of course.
Today I'm wearing an Anthropologie, vintage inspired, cotton shirt-dress that I have dubbed my Cloud Dress (last worn HERE in Just Dandy ); simply because it reminds me of the puffy clouds we see in our skies. It is oh-so airy, light-weight, and floats around my body in the same fashion that clouds drift above. The embroidery and pleating adds a special dimension to the dress. Without these delicate details, it'd simply be a white dress. Rather than pairing my dress with an obvious shoe choice, I selected to wear them with my Silver Jerome Oxfords by Sam Edelman. The comfort of these shoes are beyond amazing. I guess one could say they feel as if they're walking on clouds when they wear them. And as usual, I have kept my accessories and jewelry simple and apropos to the entire theme of the ensemble.
