Let's Be Real

The past five days have been rough for me. My youngest son and I came down with a dreadful stomach flu. Though he recovered much more quickly than I, we found ourselves feeling both physically and emotionally drained. Each of us missed out on events that we were looking forward to attending. He, a chalk art competition with his church youth group, and I, a reporting gig that would have taken me to a reception to preview the costumes and meet the designers that were nominated for the up and coming Emmy awards. As you could probably imagine, both of us were feeling pretty darn miserable.

Since you last saw me, I was feeling fantastic and was wearing a flowing ethereal dress in my post called Angelic. Shortly after that photo shoot the flu symptoms hit. Today is my first day out and about. My husband took off from work so that we could spend some family time together. The entire family is going on a short drive and then venturing into Pasadena for lunch. Lunch...hmmm. I haven't eaten much food lately. I better take it slow. With family fun instore and the temperatures at the 100 degree mark, I have decided to keep my attire simple and fun. Let's be real, after being sick, who wants to prance about in heels and a lot of fuss. Not I!

Today's Look - Shorts: Loft, Top: Loft (Similar), Sandals: Zara (old), Bag is very old from Ann Taylor, Belt: Calvin Klein via TJ Maxx

My husband is now sitting over my shoulder prodding me to hurry along. So, I must go, the family is waiting. Enjoy your day ladies{wink}

  12. Oh Glenda, consider wrapped in a warm hug from me! So sorry to hear that you and your son have been ill! I hope your recovery is speedy! After being really sick, it can take a while to get over the wobblies and back to 100%. {{{HUGS}}}

    You do look lovely as ever. Perfect proportions with your shorts and I love the dark leather belt and the dark purse also. They play well with your gorgeous skin tone!

  14. A few years ago first my daughter got the flu, next day my husband. And I was sitting on the couch laughing my ass off when I saw them both running wild through the house direction bathroom every few minutes. That was so funny! Two days later... I GOT the flu!!! ;))))
    Hope you and your son are ok, that´s a very god idea, to take it slow a few days.
    You look amazing in your gorgeous outfit! Love this shorts very much. Also your "old" sandals.

    1. Dana, I always catch what my sons bring home. Probably because I'm always hugging and kissing on them when they're sick. I can't help it :)

    2. I also kiss and hug my daughter every day but I have luck.. don´t catch everything she bring home. Must say she is not often sick.
      Hope you are better today?

  17. Hi Karen. I'm sorry to hear you got sick :-( So did I. Post-holiday exhaustion I think. It started a week ago and it's only been getting worse. I spend like an hour every morning just coughing up slime, yuck... I hope you and your family all feel better and that you will soon be back to your normal vibrant self!

  19. Oh Glenda, I am so sorry to hear you did not feel well! And so glad that now you are fine again! I love family days like the one you described. Hope you had a great time together!

    You look absolutely wonderful in shorts - natural and elegant as you always do! If there is one clothing item I have not warmed up to wearing myself, it would be shorts. I am not even sure why I don't like them on me. I only wore them to play tennis... which was ages ago. Your shorts are quite unique and fit you beautifully, great styling!

    1. I'm working my way back to good health. Not 100% yet, but I'm getting there. Shorts are tricky. For myself, because I have full thighs, I have to either wear them long and fitted or very short like the ones I'm wearing in this post. Any other length will cause them to hike up and then I'm pulling at them all day.

      But thank you for the compliments. I appreciate them!
