Colors

"One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl. I wear colors that I really like, I wear makeup that makes me feel pretty, and it really helps. It doesn't have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see."
Gabourey Sidibe

"Gardening is how I relax. It's another form of creating
and playing with colors."
Oscar de la Renta

"Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world.
Constantly color your picture gray,
and your picture will always be bleak.
Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor,
and your picture begins to lighten up."
Allen Klein

"When I think of colors, I believe this is how God demonstrates to us the myriad of possibilities that life has to offer.
In order to experience these great opportunities, you must be willing to play and create and have an open mind."
Glenda Harrison {wink}

  3. This combination is just perfect for me: nice colors on the top, fantastic addition of orange bag and sandals and bright yellow background. You're a real artist here! All it makes this outfit so optimistic :) and the quotes only make it stronger :) Have I told you I'm your fan?

  6. What a cute outfit with cheerful colours! It looks great on you and I am always impressed how fresh you look. I feel so wilted today! LOL I don't like heat and my definition of a hot day is probably a cool one for you.

  7. Now just who is that Glenda Harrison who writes such clever quotes? Hmmmm I really do love that one Glenda! I agree about colors representing possibility. Especially in my closet. I use to only wear neutrals but I feel great in color, I just never really gave it a chance.

    1. Thanks Joni! I wear a lot of neutrals too. Which I love, but on the occasions I wear color, I always feel so alive. It really changes the mood!

  8. I love your colorful outfit Glenda! The top is gorgeous and fits perfectly with blue jeans. Looks like you have another hot day. Here in Germany the summer makes a little break. But from tomorrow it will be warmer and WITHOUT continuous rain. Hope so.... ;)

    have a wonderful day

    1. Thank you, Dana! I fell in love with the top more so because of the off the shoulder fit (which I love), but I also love the colors.

Oh gosh, rain...really? I didn't realize Germany had cold weather during the summer months. The California temps have been hovering in the high 90s to low 100s. Which is normal for this time of year.

  11. Gorgeous and FUN!!! Of course, you knew that I would love it! :) I would also wear a top like this. Love your sandals, though such kind of shoes doesn't look very good on my wide feet, but I always admire them on others.

Your quote is my absolute favorite of all (they all are great, I enjoyed your post a lot!) - just because I truly see life as an open field of endless possibilities... No sitting in a box for me, no matter how big and pretty the box is! I think you and I have this in common. :)

    Love xxxxx

  14. Beautiful top, sandals and bag. And your sayings are all spot on. I remember they did research in the USA on perception and beauty. Beautiful girls were told they were ugly (hypnosis) and "ugly" girls they were beautiful. The "ugly" girls got far more attention and appreciation than the beautiful girls. It is what you convey and beelieve. Your inner self shines through the outside.
One word about the photos. On my iPad some of your photos are displayed very wide, distorted: the second, third and last one. Isn't that strange?

    1. Greetje, thank you for informing me about the photos. I was playing around with trying to add photos from my Samsung Note and I guess the editing process distorted the pictures. I reloaded the originals from my PC. Thanks again!

What a fascinating study. I would love to know more about it.

    2. I haven't got the facts or the research of that study. I am sorry.

  15. I used to be a total minimalist. black white and grey all the time. no jewelry. Then I got sick. I was very ill for a long time. Suddenly I can't get enough color. Color is Life. A word on Gabby. Did you see her on Project Runway last season? That girl KNOWS what she is talking about. Love Her!!!!

    1. I enjoy wearing the non-colors too, Connie, but at the beginning of this year, I made a resolution that I would incorporate more color into my wardrobe. Though my first instinct is to by white, I have to purposely buy color. Which is strange...I always feel really good wearing color.

      Gabby is my hero!

    2. That is so funny. I have to force myself not to buy the black option. It's hard. I'm still a sucker for black and white together though. I cannot pass up that combination. So chic and timeless.

  17. Glenda,
I love your well written quote about colors. I think being open to new experiences is a wondrous thing and great for a happy life as well as style. So much is in our attitude and perceptions.
I love this print on you, the colors just sing! You look casual and like you are having fun during this shoot. Very chic!

  18. I totally agree with the words by G. Sidibe! ( one day I decided I was beautiful: that is the key to be beautiful! )
And ... what would be a world without colours?
    p.s.
you are beautiful indeed, of a special and unique kind of beauty!
