Sarong'd

I have slacked off from my daily workout. Over the years, I have been very consistent with exercising before I start my day. However, lately, the thought of it makes me want to pull the covers a little higher over my head. I know exactly why this is so. It's because I must increase the momentum in order to reach my goal. According to the fitness experts that I have consulted with, after a certain age, a woman must add weights to her routine in order to see real results. In other words, my zen-like Pilate's workout must be combined with blood, sweat and tears...to say the least.

In the meantime, until I reach my goal, I'll have to resort to articles of clothing that will help out when I feel more...full. Oh heck, let's be honest - I FEEL BLOATED! When I'm experiencing this oh-so-uncomfortable feeling, I like to tie a flowing sarong around me to offer somewhat of a camouflage. Which is what I have done in today's look.

Today's Look: Scarf: Francesca's Collection (in store), Tank Top: Loft, Pants via Nordstrom Rack, Sandals by Nine West (old), Riley Tote: Banana Republic

Hopefully soon I won't have to be sarong'd to hide my middle. If I do choose to wear one, it will be for fashion purposes only. One day, I will remove my sarong and let it blow in the wind. But for now, it makes an excellent distraction{wink}

  4. Very nice look with the sarong tied on your hips! I think that it is very feminine, and combined to a wonderful pair of sandals ( as those you always wear) makes a gorgeous outfit!

    P.s. it's quite hard to keep the same weight for a woman ! And it requires sooo many efforts!! :-) I completely understand your words...but ... a smile is the best accessory !

  13. You look beautiful and stylish as always. In my humble but well informed opinion, your fitness experts have a bias based on their own interests and they are misinforming you. Yes exercise is good for you and yes there may indeed be benefits from adding weights to your routine, but weight loss or less bloating will not be the benefit. Eat fewer carbs. That will do it. Now, for many people that is as horrendous a thought as more exercise so I understand if you are one of those. But it will work. Carbs not only contribute more to weight/fat gain than other foods, they also contribute more to fluid and gas retention.
    Having said all of that, you look great but I also understand what it is like not to feel great and how that affects the way you look.

    1. Here is the strange thing Shawna, I don't eat enough good calories and therefore my weight sticks to me. I don't consume enough during the day. I usually eat one meal around dinner. The rest of the day is snacking. I need to start my day with a good breakfast to kick-start my day. I'm bloated because of mother nature, but I have added some extra weight. Not much, but it's enough to get on my nerves.

  14. Loving the scarf addition. It adds a splash of flare to the solid colors.

  15. Hi Glenda,

    I love your blog - you always look great. We have similar taste (I also got the great H&M caftan and flowery jeans you featured recently) but you have much better ideas for styling them! It's nice to hear that lots of ladies struggle with their figures too after a certain age but as Dan said, a smile is the best accessory!

    1. Hi Susan, I am so glad you are enjoying the blog. It really is great fun creating it. I agree with Dan, but I still need to feel good about my physical self. Since I am only about five feet tall, extra weight really shows on me.

  16. Glenda, you look gorgeous as always! But I understand that bloated, full feeling ughh...I agree with you on that it's our age that makes it harder for us to lose the weight. I just turned 50 and it feels like everything I eat, no matter how little, sticks to me. And I am not excited but working out harder either, haha! So, my friend, I do my best to hide my full middle with accessories too. I think we look pretty darn good. have a great weekend!!

  17. Cute! You know, a sarong has never occurred to me. But I do like the eclectic look of it. Are those jeans or slacks you're wearing with it?

  18. Glenda,
    I absolutely love this sarong on you. I am even a little bit glad that you feel bloated so that you could choose such an exquisite item to wear. All of us feel bloated sometimes and I don't like you're feeling critical about yourself but I understand how you feel. On another note I think it is good to add wait to exercise because when exercise becomes weight bearing it helps protect your bones from osteoporosis.
    I do love this outfit with the beautiful floral and the simple white tea and that gorgeous blue back. You're looking fabulous. Kisses,

  21. It looks ever so pretty, that sarong. Great trousers and sandals too. We cannot see the "bloated" but I know what you mean. Even though I am tall and do not weigh a lot, I am more heavy than my wardrobe allows. I seem incapable of turning it around. I keep eating.
