Perforated

Last summer my family spent a glorious week at sea as we cruised to Mexico. Like most people, before our vacation, I went on a mad shopping spree to beef-up my wardrobe on cute summery pieces. During one of my visits to TJ Maxx, I came across the dress that I'm wearing in today's post - A simple, perforated orange and white striped dress with a cord belt. Oh how I love easy garments like this. All I need to do is throw it on with a cute pair of sandals and I'm good to go!

My initial attraction toward the dress wasn't necessarily the perforated detail, but more of its easy shape. Fast forward to spring/summer 2014 and perforation is all the rage and a big trend. Click HERE to view a Elle.com slide show on all the items that have been punctured with this hole-ly detail. I guess I'm accidentally on trend.

Today's look consists of items that I have had at least over a year and were all purchased from TJ Maxx - my go to shopping destination for finding cute items for a low price. Dress-TJ Maxx, Sandals by Nine West from TJ Maxx, Bag by Nine West from TJ Maxx, Brushed Silver Cuff from J.Jill (old)

Tell me ladies have you ever become accidentally on trend with a purchase you made years ago? I would guess that we can all raise our hands - Yes, to this question. It just goes to show that trends come and go and come again{wink}

  4. What a lovely easy fresh look, Glenda! You look wonderful. Yes, trends come and go, and come again... :) This dress is somewhat of a classic though, isn't it? I can see it with converses and denim jacket, with a blazer for a fancy evening... so many possibilities! I think you'll enjoy it for many years (I know I would :). Such pretty shoes - perfect pairing!

    1. Hi Natalia, I was speaking for the perforated detail as a trend. Yes, the dress is a classic, but it was made a littlet different by adding the perforation.

    2. I understand. :) I was just admiring the dress and imagining wearing it in endless ways... Sorry if it came across wrong. :) I did not know about this trend (always something to learn from you), but I really enjoy such details and would probably also grab this dress in TJ MAXX!

Yes, It seems to happen that way sometimes!
I love this dress, the shape is perfect for you, the color is hot, hot , hot, and I love the perforation!
It is one of those details that really makes a garment stand out, and it so helps with breathability in the warmers temps! Orange stripe-- yes please!!
I also love TJ Maxx, you never know what great thing you will end up with... so glad they provide
    those big shopping carts!

  7. So pretty on you, and very of the moment. You did good, kid! I never find much here that's very fashion forward, so I'm thrilled if I don't look completely dated. I'll be pulling most of my things from last summer back out (and some from years past, even), and mixed with some fresher shoes and accessories, I hope I'll get by!

  9. I'm glad that you posted a close-up view of the fabric, because I wasn't sure what you meant! I think the colour orange is also on trend this season...I've been seeing some great shoes and sandals in vibrant orange shades, and I intend to get a pair! Your sandals are gorgeous! And yes! My hand is raised. I have found myself accidentally on trend from time to time!

  12. You are right, Glenda! Trends come and go and then come again! The bright colour of your dress is very IN this year! I have seen it often in shops, as also many shades of yellow...
The simple dress you are wearing is very nice and I like the detail of the rope belt too...

  19. I absolutely LOVE this dress! It looks so simple with the stripes from afar but, once you get upclose, you get a peek of that beautiful yet effortless little detail in the perforations. Plus, a dress that you can just throw on with a cute pair of sandals to make it even more chic? I'm in!!

    1. Thats the thing with California, throughout the year we are hit with heat waves. Its warm more than it is cold.
I just love this little dress too :)

Love the dress, although it sadly reminds me of my soft orange perforated leather jacket.... Ruined by the dog.

    2. No, she jumped up against me and her nails hooked in the perforation holes. In three places she ripped it. Poor soul cannot help it of course. It is her boss (my husband) who should have taught her not to jump up to people....
