On Broadway

A great benefit to knowing your style aesthetic is that when you shop, you have the uncanny ability to visualize how the new items will work together with your existing wardrobe (tweet this)...and where you may wear them. Such is the case for the outfit for today's post. Since my husband and I (and sometimes with the children) enjoy a good night out on the town, it's important for me to have a wardrobe that will take me from the school bleachers to a cultural event. Whether it be a play, concert, dinner or an art exhibit, we relish in the opportunity to have a slice of culture wedged into the normalcy of our lives.

My outfit of the day consist of pieces that I purchased on separate occasions, but knowing they would fulfill a myriad of occasions - A crisp white shirt, a festive black skirt, a lightweight faux trench and drop-dead sandals. All items can be worn with many other items in my wardrobe, however, when worn together, they make for a tailored, yet exciting mix that can take me to a wide variety of events, including a night out on Broadway. And that's exactly where I plan on wearing it - to see Broadway hit - Jesus Christ Super Star!

Today's Look: White Shirt-Loft, Skirt-Loft (sold out), Trench-H&M, Sandals-Michael Kors via TJ Maxx,
Necklace-H&M

A soft breeze carries the lightness of the trench

Today I will leave you with the iconic song from George Benson - On Broadway. Enjoy {wink}

  6. Hmmmm....I wonder if my comment got swallowed into the abyss earlier! I AM excited for you going to see Jesus Christ Superstar Glenda! And you will be looking so lovely at the theater! I'm such a big fan of JCS, and still get chills listening to Ted Neely singing Gethsemane. I sure hope the production comes to Vancouver. I've seen it live once, and of course, the film as well.

    1. It was a small theater production, but nevertheless, a very nice production indeed. Great performance and my first time seeing it live!

  7. This is one fine outfit Glenda! The shoes are just fabulous and I love how they ignite the classics you are wearing. This is great example of how an accessory can take center stage and compliment some great choices.

    1. It doesn't have the exact details of a classic trench, but does have some of the subtle details. Also, it isn't lined and is very lightweight.

      The show was great!

  15. Benson's style will never get old, will it? Pretty much defines cool. And I can say both of those things about your stylings ... these pieces together, especially. Proof positive that classic items combined in modern ways make for lovely looks. I'm loving the freshness of the black and white, but I'm also really glad to see your long-over-short combination. I didn't realize how well it can work for a petite, and a grown up one at that! Very cool indeed.
    Thanks for the lesson.

    1. Thank you Jan. I am in the belief that petite women can wear many of the looks that were once considered taboo. Proportions and a good tailor are key. You have such an amazing way with words. I so appreciate it.
