Maui'd

In July my husband and I will celebrate 22 years of marriage. For our honeymoon, we spent 8 glorious days on the island of Maui, and like most newlywed couples, we were anxious to purchase and sport the famous t-shirts with the words, Just Maui'd scrolled across the front. Lately, I've been thinking about our time in paradise. Our resort sat directly on the ocean front, and each night we slept with our patio doors open. At night, our room was magically lit by the glow from the moon. We were lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves lapping against the shoreline.  It was beautiful.

Today's post is dedicated to the precious time we spent on Maui, and is a prime example of how location and mood can greatly influence ones clothing choices. Today I feel relaxed and nostalgic for the island...its beauty, its gentle pace...its memories of a time well spent over 20 years ago.

Today's Look: Top-by Koi purchased in a vintage store in Virginia City, Nevada; Shorts-Cut off Old Navy jeans; Sandals-Calvin Klein via Nordstrom Rack; Straw purse was thrifted for $.50 in Palm Desert, California; Polish is Kyoto Pearl by OPI

Recently, my husband and I have had talks about returning again. I close my eyes and imagine lounging poolside or spending the afternoon exploring the sea by snorkeling. And of course, it wouldn't be a vacation without a little shopping. Right?{wink}

  2. Congratulations in advance Glenda. 22 years of marital bliss, you've done well my friend. Wishing you many many more in good health, so you can do a lot more beautiful things with your hubby and family! Love how you've style your cut-offs. As a lover of wedges, I am swooning over those sandals as I type. :)

    1. Thank you so much Elsie! I'm looking forward to 22+ years with my old man and watching our sons grow and become men. I only have two pairs of wedges. I like them when they're sleek rather than bulky. I'm glad you like them!

  3. I love that top, especially with the sandals. And happy anniversary a little early. My husband and I will be married 28 years this September... where does the time go? Definitely go back to Maui if you can. We've been there 3 times on company trips and all were fabulous. It is a magical place!

    2. No idea what I meant to type, but *this soon* was not it, LOL! Anyways, you got my point! June is one of our favourite months to go to Hawaii. Friends wonder why we sometimes choose June over January, but we often end up escaping a rainy late spring here. This December is *30* years for us!!! And yes! We may celebrate in Maui.

  5. You look young & fresh right here...probably 22 yrs ago. You go girl!! I love your quote "I don't like to see myself going and coming" I tell my nieces that very same thing, its hard to see your $60 dress on the corner looking ratchet before you had a chance to wear it.

    1. Yep Neti, that's so true. You spend the money on a trendy item and you see every-other person wearing it.

      22 years...I feel younger :)
