HAPPY

Confession: I often burst into song and dance at the drop of a hat. I use to wonder if this behavior embarrassed my family. I think they've gotten use to it. Now they sometimes join in.

Lately, Pharrell's HAPPY song has been on repeat in my head. If you haven't heard the song, I took liberty in placing the YouTube video at the end of this post. Hearing and watching it will put you in a very cheerful mood. Don't we all want that?

I want you to hear HAPPY, so let's get to today's outfit. I want you to go about your day with it playing in your head too. This is my little treat to you. Today's outfit is centered around the top. I have had it in my wardrobe since Christmas. I waited to show it to you when the days are longer and sweet, when the skies are blue and the air is crisp, when birds chirp and butterflies soar. When we all feel the resurgence of new beginnings and our emotions are much HAPPIER.

Today's Look: Top: Anthropologie, Pants: Skinny Mini's by Gap (last year's color, but there are more options), Wristlet: Loft (last season), Sandals: Nine West, and a very special bracelet that belonged to my Mom.

Notice the gold flecks in the top.

A bracelet that belonged to my Mother. Wearing it makes me HAPPY!

Because I'm HAPPY!

)

Are you now ready to go about your day dancing and clapping your hands? Go for it, it'll make those who are watching very HAPPY{wink}

    2. Nah you're kidding Glenda.... your first pink ever?! But not the last one right? You look great in pink!

    3. I've never been more serious Lenya. My first that I can recall. I'm sure my mother had me in pink as a baby. No, it's not my last. I did buy a pretty pink cardigan from a vintage store.

  2. Oh My Goodness Glenda!!! I am totally HAPPY after watching the video. I was clapping along by about half way through and dancing in my chair to a room without a roof. I'm such a dork, not in the know about Now music, but I subscribed to his channel! Must download Happy to my iPod.

    {ah happy sigh} you look like spring itself! Cheery, vibrant, sprinkled with gold fairy dust! LOVE!

You look great in colour Glenda, and the bracelet from your mum is so beautiful, I'd be happy with that too.

  17. Hi Glenda, I had just gotten Happy out of my head and now...well it's stuck again but I do love it!! I'm also loving the lush green in your photos. The grass here is still brown, the trees are still bare and tomorrow it's expected to be about 10 below zero in the morning - ugh. Love the top and the video too!!

  20. You are so much more than cute ... but forgive me if I hollar "Hey, Cutie" at you on this one. Really a pretty spring outfit that you make sophisticated just by putting the diverse pieces together. That's what I like best about your very measured approach to styling yourself. You're just cool intrinsically.
    "Happy" is an earworm, and I've never been so pleased to be invaded! My huz Dan hadn't heard it ... can you imagine? ... until the Oscars, and even His Royal SmartyPantsness was impressed with it. What a shock ... he's a jazz snob, but he understood the "cool" of this deceptively sweet melody from that perspective! Thanks for the vid. Nice to steal a minute to enjoy it again.

    1. Jan, I am so impressed with your words. I am a word snob. Well, I'm not much of a pop music lover, I just happened to like this one. Like your huz, I'm a huge jazz snob. As a matter of fact, we are going to hear Wynton Marsalis tomorrow!

      I'm glad you like the outfit. It is one of my attempts of adding more color into my wardrobe.

  21. Oooh. Just remembered. I wanted to let you know I ran across the "smart girls" article in Elle. Glad you pointed it out. This is a good reminder also of all the naysayers who scoff at us when we remind them that you can actually find great articles in the glossies. Harumph.

  22. Glenda, I love this happy print top, the color and the cut! The capris are perfect with it, but the magical touch is the sentimental one; the bracelet from your mom! Happy Spring!

    1. It should be the worlds theme song. Wouldn't that be grand. Thanks Greetje...it was the birds that sold me. I wasn't to sure about the pink :)

    2. Don't you worry about the pink, that doesn't matter for the overall picture. Which is lovely.

  24. Isn't it great how a song from a kiddie movie has gained Pharrell more exposure than any of his others. I have to hear this song at least once per day. Your outfit is so awesome and makes me want warm weather even sooner!!!
