Keep It Simple

Hi Friends!

Last night my husband gave me a briefing on our oldest sons music schedule for the week. After hearing the schedule, my comment was simply, "Oh lordy." When my children were infants, I remember older family members and friends telling my husband and I about how their schedules evolve around the children's schedules. This now is the stage of my life and I'm learning to adapt to it mentally, as well as adapting my wardrobe. The first thing that came to my mind, after hearing the schedule was KEEP IT SIMPLE (without the word Stupid). So that our family won't go off balance, this is what I will do:
  • I shall move forward in this week with ease,
  • I will begin each day with Pilates,
  • I will not add more to the plate unless it is absolutely necessary,
  • And I will not fuss with my attire, but will pull together looks that offer me comfort and continue to promote my style aesthetic.
Today's outfit meets the standard of Keeping It Simple. Comfy knits that move well and stay put, combined with a loose fitting jacket and sandals (the weather is still warm in California).

Today's Look: Short-sleeved turtleneck by Anne Klein, Pants by Michael Kors, A-line Painters Smock purchased from TJ Maxx years ago, Sandals by Michael Kors, Cellphone by Samsung Galaxy, Polish is Imported Champagne by essie.

Tell me Friends, what do you do when your schedule is full? How do you keep it simple and how do you like to dress when things are hectic? Do tell, I would love to read your comments{wink}

  2. First of all, your sandals are great! ... In my family we are just my husband and I ( and our old Bangio, of course! ! ) And that means more spare time... but , beiing a working woman, I am quite busy. When I have some time, I decide two or three outfits, and leave them ready to be worn in my closet. That allows me to be quickly ready in the morning, and the following day I just have to change my shirt ( or Tshirt )...
I have always admired woman like you, who can be stylish despite their full schedule!
    p.s.
Bangio is my old, beloved, small dog!

    1. I figured Bangio must be your furry friend. When I worked from home I use to get my outfits together in advance too. In a way, I still sort of plan out my outfits in advance. It does make life much easier.

  4. I remember my mom growing up with all three of us girls being in 3 sports each. Not only did she find time for all of us and our games but she found time to coach our teams when we were at the younger stage, I don't know how she did it. Emma is just now getting to the stage where her schedule is taking over and just looking at my planner gives me anxiety haha. Best of luck with your son's schedule, you definitely look chic and ready to take on the day. I am loving that jacket!

PS How are you liking pilates? I miss yoga and am starting back up again but have debated taking a few pilates classes to diversify a bit.

    1. Funny thing about the jacket, I forgot I had it! I recently rediscovered it while cleaning out my closet.

I am obsessed with Pilates. I do Pilates at least 4 times per week and I alternate the workout with the Firm workouts. I was told about Pilates after child birth. I had such a bad back, a nurse told me that it is great for conditioning the core. And it is. The Reformers are killer, but it is amazing. I only have positive things to say. Go for it!

  6. Love the outfit Glenda, sharp look!!

Since retiring last year, unless I have a meeting to go to I no longer stress over what to wear since I have the luxury of planning. Also, life seems considerably easier now that my 3 sons are grown. Although with Mollie (doggie) and 1 year old grandson, I'm still kept on my toes. ~ Steph

    1. Sometimes I imagine how great the days will be when my sons are more independent, but then I realize how much I enjoy this stage too :)

  7. I always get my clothes out the night before, doesn't matter if its simple or randomly flashy. I always have my daughter help out too. She's barely 2 but she has one sense of fine fashion, its fun at the same time because we don't really go out during the winter snowy days so being in goofy clothes helps bring up the droopy days. When she goes towards the jewelry then that's a whole other process. It all ends up in laughs.

  11. Flat shoes, comfortable trousers and a nice top or jacket. Always works. In other words, close to what you chose. And which looks very nice. Beautiful sandals again on your pretty feet.
